Beginning operations in April, 1997 with offices at Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado, Sunrise Credit Union initially started with a field of membership that included the Emissaries, a worldwide spiritual community network.
Sunrise CU now additionally serves the broader communities movement by reason of its association with the Fellowship for Intentional Community (FIC). The FIC is a 501(c)3 organization that promotes community through educational seminars, a quarterly publication Communities Magazine, its renowned “bible of communities,” the Communities Directory and it’s website, www.ic.org.
What are Intentional Communities?
The wider network of intentional communities include every type of lifestyle choice from the back-to-the-land rural lifestyle to the plush cohousing communities now proliferating around the country and everything in between. More people are recognizing the value of collective living choices as an answer to many of the problems our society is facing.
Sunrise Credit Union makes loans to individuals within this network as well as to the communities themselves for re-financing and projects of every sort. We understand the values that motivate people to make collective living choices. Our board volunteers and staff have over 200 years of combined experience in community living.
